Lisa Young Trio – with Sam Evans (tabla) and Ben Robertson (double bass)
The Lisa Young Trio is a new collaboration of Lisa Young (voice) Ben Robertson (double bass) and Sam Evans (tabla). Lisa is a member of the acclaimed vocal group Coco’s Lunch, and her Jazz quartet recently won the ‘BELL’ award for ‘Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album’ with their album ‘GRACE’. Lisa, Ben and Sam are well known to World/Jazz listeners as creative stylists and improvisers, incorporating Indian and African influences in their work. This new trio explores their diverse musical expression, layering Indian sounds, rhythms and textures in an evocative journey of song.
